My purchase of this book was the result of a lazy trawl across Amazon’s fiction pages. The title is unusual and when I read the plot description, I had my intrigued expression plastered on my face. Male narrator, tick. A quirky and nerdy male narrator, double tick. Intriguing premise, tick. Potential for humour, tick. Potential to be something profound, tick. That’s an honest insight into the simplicity of my book buying process and so, feeling rather impulsive and adventurous, I decided to buy into Alex Woods’ story.

Plot:

Alex Woods knows that he hasn’t had the most conventional start in life.
